I always wanted to include Brazil Nuts in my daily diet, but what kept me away from this, is the taste of these nuts. Honestly, I can’t have them just out of the jar and so thought of coming up with something creative that would make my taste buds happy!
Brazil Nuts are rich in Selenium which is generally found to be low in vegan and vegetarian diets. This is the main reason I like not to avoid these nuts. Low levels of Selenium are linked to autoimmune disorders and mood swings. In addition to selenium, they contain very good levels of other minerals such as copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, and not to mention excellent source of B-complex group.
Brazil Nut Butter
- 15-20 Brazil Nuts (preferably organic, soaked overnight)
- 2 tbsp sun dried Tomatoes (soaked for 30 mins)
- 2 cloves roasted Garlic
- 1-2 tsp crushed Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Sweet Paprika
- 1/2 – 1 tsp Pure Maple Syrup
- 2 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (optional)
- Salt to taste
Blend all these ingredients to a butter like consistency. The umami flavor of sun dried tomatoes and the robust flavor of roasted garlic takes this savory butter to a whole new level…you got to try it!! The secret ingredient to this butter is the “roasted garlic”!

According to Kimberly Snyder, we need good fats to keep our skin looking healthy and well moisturized. Brazil Nuts do make the list of beauty nuts in her book Beauty Detox.
You will be amazed how tasty this butter is and will find ways to include it not just on your crackers and breads but also savor it in pastas and soups. No going back to store bought butter anymore….
