Experienced Ayurveda Guidance

About Akshata
Akshata (Akee) Sheelvant grew up in India and was first introduced to Ayurveda and other natural therapies at an early age, when her father was completely healed from rheumatoid arthritis. From then on, her thirst for learning and practicing Ayurveda grew steadily, metamorphosing into living a salubrious lifestyle. The Ayurvedic saying “food be thy medicine” is a living mantra in her personal life. She is deeply grateful to the scientific wisdom of Ayurveda and practice of Hatha Yoga, through which she was able to completely heal her hypothyroidism, following strict Ayurvedic food guidelines.

Since then, Akee has incorporated Ayurvedic principles to make food as medicine by perfectly blending it with dosha-specific, organic, Ayurvedic herbs and spices. Her forte is crafting nutritiously delicious food-medicine that helps to balance her clients coming for endocrine health, blood-sugar management, weight loss, hormone balance, and other lifestyle disorders. Today, Akee lives in the U.S. (Phoenix, AZ), and enjoys bringing together the best of East and the best of West in her Ayurveda wellness workshops, cooking classes, and writings on how to live a healthy, wholesome life.

Before embarking on her Jeeva journey, Akee worked for Fortune 100 companies for 12 years in the information technology field. She has studied international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in the U.S. and business/finance during her time in India.

Spiritual underpinning
One common denominator you will find in all of Akee’s workshops, classes, and writings is the silent spiritual undercurrent that runs throughout. Her own spiritual journey in this life began in 1996 with the teachings of her Guru Paramahansa Yogananda. It is His grace that brings meaning to her life. She has been practicing Yogananda’s Kriya Yoga since 2000.
Akee learned both Yoga and Ayurveda in Rishikesh, India, and was taught by many teachers from India. She is a RYT Yoga Alliance–certified yoga teacher.

in her own words
I always had a deep quest inside me on how to bring balance in one’s life and with lot of reading, researching, and contemplation, came to an intuitive realization — to bring balance and moderation in life, one needs to tie the knot between the ancient Eastern wisdom and contemporary Western practicality.
