Ayurveda Secret for Beautiful Skin, Increased Energy, Optimum Digestion!

Ayurveda for centuries has advocated drinking water from pure Copper jugs/vessel. Whenever you visit India and meet with Swamis/Sages you will always see them drinking water from pure copper jugs. Copper metal is regarded very highly in Ayurveda for balancing body and mind disorders.

I had purchased few copper jugs when I visited India - but very soon I was not able to use them because they were not made from good quality copper sheet and it was very hard to use and clean them!

Recently I was offered this beautiful Copper Water Pitcher which was made from high quality pure copper and not just good quality but the unique thing about this copper jug that I immediately liked was - it was made with one single pure copper sheet and hand pounded to give the rustic artisan look! This copper jug I knew would last for a really long time because it had no joints or seams which my earlier copper jugs had given lot of issues.

Before I wrote a review on this beautiful copper jug - I wanted to make sure I personally used it to give you a more accurate review.  Here are my observations -
Copper Jug Personal Observations:
1) The copper jug is a right size for two people - it is heavy and sturdy as it is made with one single pure copper sheet
2) In the beginning I had little difficulty to close the lid as the jug is hand-made you need to work a little to put the lid on. But after few days of using the lid sits perfect and have no issue now
3) The water tastes good ( it is an acquired taste in the beginning if you are new to drinking from copper jug) - you know it is pure copper when you taste the water first thing in the morning ( I pour water in the jug overnight and keep it for at least 8 hours before I have it next morning)
4) The copper jug does have quite a bit of patina - this is natural and is a proof it is pure copper - there are different school of thoughts - one agree to drink the water from copper jug which has patina - the other school of thought suggests to clean the patina regularly to drink from copper jug.  I personally clean the jug just with plain water everyday and every few days I clean the patina with lime and salt
5) You don't feel thirsty throughout the day if you drink water from this jug - because it is positively charged water and the body knows how to absorb it!

Being an Ayurveda/Yoga Lifestyle Consultant I need to let my readers know when it is not advisable to drink water from Copper Jugs. Water from Copper Jugs is generally marketed to be good for all three doshas - vata, pitta, kapha. It is partially correct only when all the three doshas are in balanced state!
Personally I am Pitta-Kapha dosha and I would NOT drink water from copper jug in the hot brutal AZ summer because the water infused with copper is heating to the body and being Pitta dominant - it aggravates my pitta! I would really suggest not drinking copper water if you have really bad summer in your region.

Ayurveda has successfully used metals in helping balance body-mind for centuries in India. The three metals popularly used are Gold-Silver-Copper. Gold is a friend of Vata, Silver is a friend of Pitta, and Copper is a friend of Kapha.

Anyone having kapha issues or are a kapha dominant personality - drinking copper water is very beneficial unless you have any metal allergy. Ayurveda does caution women during pregnancy and also during heavy menstrual cycle to practice caution.
In general both kapha and vata personalities can enjoy water from copper jugs - people with pitta personalities have to exercise caution while drinking copper water.

Coming to benefits of drinking copper water - I think you will get tons and tons of benefits if you google on this topic. I tell my clients to drink from copper jugs for these benefits -

Benefits of Drinking Copper Water:
1) It brings overall balance and focus to mind and body
2) After using it for few weeks - you can notice a good increase in energy level
3) One can notice feeling hungry and would want to have good three meals a day
4) It has the potential to balance high blood pressure  (please check with your doctor and not to take this as a medical advise)
5) One can notice improvement in allergies and stronger immunity
6) It can help in balancing hormones
7) Drinking copper water for few months - has resulted clearer and glowy skin
8) Copper water helps in breathing issues or asthma (please check with your doctor and not to take this as a medical advise)
9) Brings equanimity in mind - very beneficial for meditation and chanting
10) Helps with dehydration as the water is positively charged

I would say give it a try to see the amazing benefits you receive drinking copper water. It has to be consumed regularly to reap the benefits. And I would say don't go overboard with the copper water may be start with one cup a day and then increase it gradually to about 3-4 cups a day and not more than that. One word of caution is please make sure you have no metal allergies before drinking this from copper jug.

I am really thankful for the generous gift from Shantiva for me to try out their hand-made copper jug. I am very happy with it and will be using it everyday in fall, winter and spring season! Thank you!!
