Heavenly Mango Summer Smoothie

Mangoes are considered “King of all Fruits” by Ayurveda. Reason being two fold – in ancient India, kings took pride in owning hundreds of acres of mango farms and secondly mangoes both green raw and fully ripe mangoes are used extensively in ayurvedic medicine.

Once you taste a fully ripe, sweet, juicy mango…you will be hooked!!  In my opinion there is no fruit that can take the place of mangoes, LOVE MANGOES!!! They are high in antioxidants, beta carotene and vitamin C.

Per Ayurveda, mangoes are tridoshic in nature and help in easy digestion. Being a summer fruit, mangoes are heating to the body so to balance this I have used Coconut Milk. Coconuts are regarded very highly in Ayurveda, they help keep our emotions calm during the hot summer months by balancing our Pitta dosha.mangoes are used extensively by Ayur

Here is a short list how mangoes are used in ayurvedic care –

  • Respiratory Disorders
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Excessive Thirst
  • Diarrhea
  • Female Disorders
  • Hair Problems

Combination of mangoes and a pinch of saffron makes this smoothie “Heavenly”! Give this a try!!

  • 1 perfectly ripe Mango
  • 1/4 -1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  • 1-2 Dates (optional, if the mangoes are super sweet)
  • 1 pinch Saffron

Blend all the ingredients listed above with some ice. ENJOY!!
